Do you still call it a bump?

All of a sudden it feels substantially more than a "bump" - perhaps an abnormal growth? A ball? A massive tumor?  I'm starting to feel the strain of being bigger - it is certainly getting less and less comfortable as time progresses. As I write this I have about 5 1/2 weeks to go and am nearly counting down days!

There is also the joy of interacting with complete strangers when you're pregnant. We continue to be amazed at how much people care about it - we can't eat out without our waiter/waitress quizzing us on the pregnancy or walk in the grocery store without comment.  Pretty much every interaction typically goes like this:

them: "Congratulations! Is this your first?"
us: "Yes, thank you. We're excited"
"Is it a boy or a girl?"
"It's a boy"
"Boys are great! Your world is about to totally change!"

Then they usually share some tidbit of wisdom: Get sleep while you can is the most common, followed by comments on their own children/childbirth/pregnancy/etc. Honestly they all mean well - but feeling like a circus sideshow is starting to wear on me. I had two recent interactions worth noting:

1. The lady at the donut shop:

her: "your belly is so pretty!"
me: "ha, thank you"
"are you having a girl?"
"nope, it's a boy"
"are you sure?"
"ummm, yep, we are pretty sure"
"your belly is too pretty to be a boy!"
"well, ok...but it is"
"ok pretty, i give you extra donut for the baby"......it was pink.

2. The lady at the courthouse (while waiting on jury duty):

her: "you about ready to have that baby?"
me: "you bet! just over 5 weeks to go"
"oh, honey - you aren't going to make it 5 weeks"
"oh, ok....ha"
"no way that baby gonna be in there another 5 weeks" (stares at my belly)
"well, i'm ready whenever he is!"

Without further ado...the sideshow bump:

And no...the nursery is still not done. Those that know me well know better than to ask at this point! :)
