Special
Talents:
Your tongue….it’s always out! Talking – lots of words – your favorite
and first “real” word is dog. You also like star, cow, and cup. When you say
star you always say “a staaaaarrrrr” – leading with the “a” and really dragging
it out. We adore it, of course. You say dog no less than 50 times a day, and
will accompany that with pointing at a dog of a picture of a dog if requested.
You’re so special.
Crying:
Unfortunately
you re-introduced crying when we transitioned to your new class at school –
just at dropoff for about 30 seconds. But it breaks my heart. In good news –
since I was so delayed in writing this post I know it only lasted three days
before you adapted and although are still reserved, are not unhappy in the
morning first thing. Other than that – you have figured out the fine art of
tantrums – not “real” crying – but the kind you turn on and off. Like I said, you’re special.
Sleeping:
At night: 7-6:40. You now are basically a
grown man, putting yourself to sleep and sometimes waking up early but just
laying around talking for a bit until we come in.
For naps: Just one nap – 12:30-2:15ish at
school. You sleep on a cot! I was amazed at how quickly you adapted – you only
took about a week before you were a rockstar at taking the full big kid nap and
on a cot! You have a little blanket, and you don’t even use a paci at all.
Crazy. At home on weekends you usually also take a little catnap in the morning
if we are in the car – but other than that – still just the big midday nap.
Finally. J
Loves:
Outside
– you’re such a little adventurous dude. You love the swing and you just love
generally being outdoors. You are
figuring out how to walk (note from the future – you officially started walking
at 13 months!) and taking a few steps here and there. Momma & Dada – you never
can decide depending on the day who you’re going to cling to – but in good news
– we feel equally loved!
Not so much love:
Getting
your diaper changed, having water poured over your head (both of which used to
be fine….), and being in a different room without us for a
moment/second/heartbeat. Catastrophic.
Schedule:
We weaned you about a
week after your first birthday – and you were probably more ready than I was
for that. You stayed on breastmilk for
the next few weeks and we slowly introduced cows milk – you adapted to both
milk from a sippy cup (we dropped the bottle cold turkey at 12 months) and not
nursing without any issue whatsoever. So your schedule is: Wake up and have
some milk in a sippy in bed with mom and dad and watch cartoons. Then we all get ready – you have breakfast
with milk at 8, lunch with milk at 11, a snack with water at 2:30, and dinner
with milk at about 5:30. Then bed at 7.
You are trying all kinds of foods now – and have definite preferences! You are
stubborn as a mule about letting us put anything in your mouth – so when you
try new things you do it on your own terms.
Well, obviously as I'm posting this nearly 2 months late, it is the end of the monthly updates! I'll do my best to keep the blog updated with new and exciting events - but am relieved to avoid the pressure of a monthly post!
I can't believe you have been in our lives for a year - but also can't believe that you haven't always been here - life without you seems so....less fun. You make our hearts so full, Tiny. We love you to pieces!
