Well buddy...the day finally came! For at least a month now you've been eyeing our plates and opening your mouth and acting ever-so-hopeful about getting some of your own! I wanted you to be sitting pretty well, have a few teeth, using your hands better, and acting interested. Well...that all happened so food happened today.
We are going to raise you as paleo as possible. We've discussed it with your doctor and she is on board that you don't need grains/sugar/processed foods...so we were ready to get started. We had decided your first food would be avocado. Initially, we are only supposed to introduce a new food once every 4 days or so...and we were excited to get going! In preparation for this, your pal Scout had been telling you your favorite food was avocado for at least a month. Ha!
I came home a bit early from work so that we could try to feed you in between your nursing sessions - I'm already finding it laughable that I wanted you "hungry" given the amount you ingested. But all the reading says not to do it with a nursing session or right before initially...so we followed the rules.
The pictures speak for themselves - although they say you have to introduce foods at least 15-20 times before the little person makes a call if they like it or not. My initial thought is that you are out on the avocado...but we'll keep trying for a few days and see if your taste changes!
You DID however, enjoy your highchair (we'd been sitting you there every now and then for a couple of weeks), the bright spoon, and initially the idea of getting some big kid food. I mixed the avocado with some breast milk to hopefully make it more familiar...not sure how much that helped.
Without further ado...
